Weiner’s analysis of media and cynicism was too harsh in your interview here. It seems out of perspective within a broader context of political realities.

So there’s a certain quality of lazy liberalism within the comedy/cynical camp, perhaps as a politician, he’s posturing to seem above this kind of free form discourse. (if he TiVo’s the show, he must find some value in the content.)

My advice, why not use the force of this politically sympathetic audience for general support and tap them with the more serious call to arms along the way when the openings present.

Rather, he needs to direct his ire where it belongs: at the corporate takeover of the free press, which yields the sort of environment that eventually gives us Jon Stewart. I’m glad we have “The Daily Show”, and in our current environment, it’s an important part of the miserable equation, but I do sympathize with Anthony Weiner when I say I wish we didn’t have to have it.
